Each time a new customer (identified by the Email address) purchases something from your store, a new customer record is entered into the Customers Database. If you have chosen to use “Customer Sign-In,” then their record will also include a password, and the customer will be able to Sign-In the next time they visit the store.
In addition to the primary billing contact information, which is fairly self-explanatory, the customers database tracks a few more fields which affect the fuction of the store:
This shows the number of times the customer has placed with this account.
This is controlled by the merchant to determine whether sales tax will be automatically calculated for this customer. The sales tax is generated by creating calculations whose “Percentage Of” value is set to the “Taxable Total.” Products which are marked “Tax exempt” will not be used in calculating this total.
If you are using “Customer Sign-In,” the customer will assign his or her own password. Otherwise, you can assign or modify the password to the customer's account.
This value shows the number of times the customer has Signed-In to the store. If you are not using “Customer Sign-In,” this value will remain zero.
This is controlled by the merchant to determine whether the customer receives wholesale pricing.
