You can customize the way SurfShop™ returns search results.
Number of Columns: (1 or 0 for row format) - Enter 1 if you prefer a list format, or a higher number if you prefer to show your products in multiple columns.
Number of Results per page - Enter the number of items you wish to return per page. We recommend a smaller number if you are using multiple columns, as they tend to load slower.
Number of Related Items per page (across) - Enter the number of items you wish to display as “Related Items.” Related Items are entered in the Products Admin, and are shown on the “Product Detail,” “View Cart,” and “Check-Out” pages. If you are not using “Related Items,” this field does not apply. SurfShop will only display “Related Items”if there are items to display.
Number of Featured Items per page (down) - Enter the number of items you wish to display as “Featured Items”. If you are not using “Featured Items,” this field does not apply. SurfShop will only display the “Featured Items” column if there are items to display.
Add to Cart from List - places an “Add to cart” button on each item returned from the search. If the item includes additional options, dropdown menus for these options will be generated as well.
Show categories as breadcrumb trail - Shows all of the categories and subcategories under which the current category is located in a single line, separated by “greater-than” symbols. Example: Category > Sub-category > Sub-sub-category.
Show position in search results - Include the phrase, “Items 1 thru 10 of 20 (10 per page),” based on your settings for number of results per page, above.
Separate search navigation with horizontal rules - Places a line between the “position” and the search result content elements of the search results page.
Show sub-categories as headers - Summarizes search results by sub-category and shows each category as a header above the search results.
Show category icons - Shows the categories as clickable links (and images, if they are loaded into the categories database) above the search results. Products that are not members of the currently selected category are not shown (normally, all products under the current category and all its sub-categories are shown.)
Use Wish List - Enables links that allow customers to add items to a temporary “wish list” cart instead of their order. This can be a way to help “browsing” customers come back later and finish an order.
Use Customer Sign-In - Enables customers to create an account in your store and use the order history, wish list and resume order features of the cart.
Use Shipping Form - Enables the “Ship To” section of the cart and turns the shipping calculations on and off.
Use Comments Box - Shows a text area for customers to send specific order instructions. This is also where shipping notes are posted for viewing in the “order status” page.
Use Coupon/Gift Certificates - Enables the Coupons and Gift Certificates section of the checkout form. You can create Coupons and Gift Certificates, but this must be enabled for customers to be able to use them.
Use Customer Opt-In - Enables the “Opt-In” checkbox during checkout. This is simply away to confirm that a customer wishes to receive addional communication from your company after the sale is completed. It does not affect “member” status, which is enabled when a customer creates a user name and password.
